Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (HV) - Deva CMC (HV)

Description

Deva CMC-HV is an high viscosity Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (C.M.C.) technical graded. It is used as a viscosifier and fluid loss reducing agent in different types of water based drilling fluids.

Application

Deva CMC-HV is used in various types of drilling fluids ranging from fresh water to saturated salt water.

Deva CMC-HV can be used to substitute part of the bentonite in order to keep the solids content low. Furthermore, Deva CMC-HV allows rheology control, filtration control, formation of thin filter cakes, protection from flocculation, lubrication of bits, suspension of cuttings and weighting materials.

Temperature

Deva CMC-HV solutions are highly heat resistant. The product has a peak operating temperature higher (300° F 150°C) than other product such as Starch and Guar Gum.

In the presence of strong alkali and some metal ions this value is reduced.

Treatment

The amount of Deva CMC-HV required depends on the type and the characteristics of the drilling fluid. Typical additions are the following:
